About C-Ability

C-Ability provides personalized therapeutic support for children, adolescents, and their immediate environment and family. Our services include individual therapy, psychoeducation, parent training, group therapy, and overall family support. C-Ability emphasizes discovering, developing and nurturing the “abilities” of every child and caregiver.

C-Ability adopts a positive and playful approach aligned with Maslow’s pyramid of needs with the goal to support children who are facing developmental challenges, developmental disorders, delays, or challenging behavior.  Therapy is fully personalized and flexible, with most sessions held at C-Ability’s location. When necessary, therapy and observations can also be provided at home, in school, during after-school activities, or as needed.

C-Ability customizes its interventions to match the child’s needs, qualities, and interests, fostering a safe and stimulating environment for holistic development. The approach includes the entire family, providing parent and caregiver training, guidance, and support. Collaboration with parents, caregivers, and professionals is essential, empowering everyone involved.

C-Ability creates a safe space for the optimal development of children and families by utilizing scientifically proven methods and concepts, such as from Behavioral Science, Psychology, Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory and the Zone of Proximal Development, and enhanced by Cindy’s  education, experience, and intuition, Child, family and education

From a young age, I have a passion and love for assisting and supporting children with special developmental needs, leading me to volunteer in child-focused environments. Starting at twelve, I had the opportunity to make a contribution during other children’s play therapy and therapeutic horseback riding for children on the Autism Spectrum in Curaçao. Looking back, these were my first steps of my journey while following my dream of making my passion into a career.

After high school in Curaçao, I pursued a psychology bachelor’s degree in the Netherlands. In 2018, I completed my Master’s in Clinical Child, Family, and Education (Orthopedagogiek) from Utrecht University, accumulating international experience and cultural exposure. As a member of the Dutch Association of Pedagogues and Educationalists (NVO), I stay updated on professional and scientific developments, ensuring up to date education and knowledge.

Specializing in behavior intervention plans, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), AD(H)D, developmental delays and more, my work is diverse and has a variety of possibilities. Believing in collaboration, I enjoy working with families, colleagues, organizations, and during projects.

After gaining experience, I established myself as an independent entrepreneur in the Netherlands, now part of O₂ Solutions B.V. in Curaçao as C-Ability. With C-Ability, I aim to share and expand my passion, prioritizing the child’s perspective, giving them a voice, and empowering those who need extra support to shine and optimally develop.

Our aim is to support the child in overcoming challenges and strive for optimal development, in collaboration with the adults involved in the child’s life. C-Ability operates from the standpoint of children, aligning with the needs of the child, their environment, and the educational system.

Our mission is to contribute to positive development and empower the abilities of every child and their environment. Through the broad and tailor-made approach C-Ability offers a safe space full of abilities to help the child develop optimally.

As a mother of a child with special needs, I was desperate and confused, looking for answers that no one really had. I was lucky enough to be referred to Cindy, in 2022, for counselling and therapy for my son (now 5 years old). I immediately fell in love with her patience, professionalism and love for my child. While my son was having his therapy sessions to learn about his feelings and emotions, I was also learning to understand my child’s needs. I have seen a huge growth in my child in the 2 years we have been with Cindy. Not only in him, but also in me as a mum who now understands his needs better. At times when I was feeling angry and desperate, talking to Cindy has calmed me down and helped me to see the “world” through my son’s eyes, which ultimately helped me to understand what he was feeling and frustrated about. Cindy’s words: “Your son is not his meltdowns, that is just a small part of his character. Your son is the happy, funny and loving young man you see during most of the day”. When it comes to the safety, mental health and happiness of “her kids”, Cindy is always available, no matter the day or time. Cindy has been with us through our most difficult times and is also part of our happiest moments. Cindy is the voice of all children with special needs and the perfect guide and support for all parents. She combines theory with practice and her experience and confidence will give you, as a parent, hope for your child’s future. I can imagine that all this sounds like a sales pitch, but believe me, these are just the words of an eternally grateful mother.

Ze denkt “out side the box” en vindt oplossingen waar andere problemen zouden zien.

Voor onze zoon is ze als een tante geworden en voor ons een baken van positiviteit en vakkundigheid
